The Withholding of the Sun for Our Master Yusha^ ibn Nun

Prophet Musa, peace be upon him, died in at-Tih, a barren desert land with no shade or water, where the Israelites were stuck for 40 years, because they did not follow the orders of Prophet Musa. When Musa died, Yusha^ ibn Nun, Prophet Musa’s young companion, became the leader of the Israelites after receiving the Revelation and becoming a prophet. He led them out of at-Tih, and, obeying Allah’s orders, headed toward Jerusalem to invade and conquer the tyrants and blasphemers in it. It is narrated that among the tyrants lived an Israelite scholar, Bal^am, the son of Ba^oura’, a Canaanite whom our master Musa sent to the king of that region, to call him to Islam. The wicked king, however, welcome Bal^am and coaxed him until he convinced him to stay, giving him...

Our Master Sulayman in the Valley of the Ants

Allah, ta^ala, said in the Qur’an, what means, “The army of Sulayman was gathered from jinn, humans, and birds. The front would stop so that the back could catch up, until they reached the ants valley. “An ant said, ‘Oh ants, hurry and enter your houses, so that Sulayman and his army will not destroy you without realizing that.’” “Prophet Sulayman smiled at hearing this.” Our Master Sulayman was a great and honorable prophet, who was given many wonderful endowments and miracles. He would frequently go out to spread Islam and suppress blasphemy, wherever it may be. Prophet Sulayman’s army was made of three species: humans, jinn (who also had the shape of humans) and birds. The jinn and humans would ride on their horses, while the birds would fly above them,...

The Table of Prophet Jesus

Allah sent many prophets to teach and spread Islam, the true religion. Allah supported each of his prophets with many miracles, which served as proof for their truthfulness. Prophet Jesus was among these prophets, and he was supported with many great miracles, among which was the appearance of the Banquet. Prophet Jesus had ordered al-Hawariyyun, the best people who had believe in and followed him, to fast for 30 days. Upon the completion of the 30 days, they were with him in the desert. Usually when Prophet Jesus traveled, thousands of people would follow him. Some of them were his companions, others had a sickness or disease and wanted Prophet Jesus to supplicate to Allah to cure them, and some others followed to mock and belittle him. The Hawariyyun asked...

The Miracles of Prophet Musa While in at-Tih

Allah, ta^ala, said in Surah al-Baqarah, Ayah 57, what means: “And We (Allah) made the pillar of white clouds to give shade over you, and We sent you the ‘Mann’ and the Quails.” The Children of Israel, who were Muslims, entered at-Tih, a place in which they were trapped, and could not get out of for 40 years, as a punishment for not following Prophet Musa’s orders of performing struggle. Prophet Musa was with them in at-Tih, but he was not punished with them; rather, his presence was to carry out the orders of Allah. At-Tih was a barren land with no plants, water or shade. The Children of Israel complained to Prophet Musa about the heat of the sun, and so he made supplication to Allah and was given a great miracle. The white clouds provided shade for them: during...

The Attempt to Burn Our Master Ibrahim

The people of Babylon lived a very good life, enjoying all kinds of riches, but they forgot that all they had were endowments from Allah, the Almighty. They followed what Satan decorated for them—they crafted idols from their own hands and worshipped them. These idols could not do anything of benefit or otherwise. Nimrod was the name of their king, who was deceptive and arrogant. He claimed to be God, and ordered his subjects to worship him alone. Our Master Ibrahim was born into these shocking surroundings. Allah inspired Ibrahim with the proper belief from his early childhood. Ibrahim worshipped only Allah, knowing that Allah did not resemble any of His creation and that Allah is the Creator of the entire universe and all of its entities. When Ibrahim received...

The Detailed Signs of Our Master Musa

The Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and his people, did not distinguish between miracles and magic. They alleged that all the miracles that Prophet Musa came with, such as the staff turning into a huge snake, were merely magic acts.           They said, “Whatever sign that you come with from your Lord, we regard as magic, and we will never believe in it at all.” Prophet Musa, known in English as Moses, was a very well-built, stable, and righteous man. He did not give up on calling people to Islam. He was answered when he asked Allah to punish the non-believers. Allah sent the flood to the non-believers, the Copts, who were the followers of the pharaoh. The flooding continued, day and night, from one Saturday to the next. During this time, not a man from...

Locusts of Gold for Prophet Ayyub

Prophet Ayyub, known in English as Job, was one of the richest prophets before afflictions fell upon him. Eventually these afflictions were lifted from him. Prophet Ayyub lived in al-Bathaniyyah, a Hawran village in the Sham area, between Damascus and Adhraat in Jordan. God had blessed him with wide estates, fertile land, good health, money, and plenty of children. Ayyub was thankful to God, sympathetic toward others, kind and merciful to the needy, supportive of the orphans and widows, hospitable to his guests and helpful to those in need. However, great hardships befell Ayyub, the Prophet of Allah. God tested him to increase his reward. Our Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, said what means, “Those who undergo the toughest hardships are the...

The Consecutive Miracles of Prophet Jesus

Allah inspired Prophet Jesus to spread the word of Islam at the age of thirty. So he roamed the land, preaching Islam, saying to people, “Worship Allah only with no other, and believe that I am His Messenger to you.” The first to believe in him were twelve people named al-Hawariyyun. It was narrated that one of Jesus’s earlier miracles was the time when his mother, Lady Maryam, charged him with different kinds of work, the last of which was for a group of dyers, who bleached material and colored it. One day, Prophet Jesus’s employer wanted to travel, so he said to him, “I have taught you how to dye and I have many cloths that need dying. So dye each one in the color that I have specified for you. I have put a thread of the required color on each of them.”...

Prophet Ibrahim Witness the Revival of Dead Birds

Allah supported Prophet Ibrahim, al-Khalil, with outstanding miracles that stood as brilliant proof of his Prophethood. Reviving the birds that were dead on his hand, by the Will of Allah, is among those miracles. Our Master Ibrahim was never doubtful of Allah, ta^ala. Rather, he was granted guidance and faith in God, since childhood. When he received the Revelation and was sent as a Messenger to teach the people of Islam, he went to an-Nimrud, the king of the land. That king was a disbeliever who denied the existence of Allah, subhanahu wa ta^ala. Prophet Ibrahim said as he was debating him, “My God is the One Who gives life and takes it away.” An-Nimrud said, “I give life and take it away,” and so he discharged an imprisoned man who was sentenced to death,...

The Wind that was at Prophet Solomon’s Disposal

Allah sent the prophets with Islam, and among these prophets was Prophet Solomon, may peace be upon him. Allah bestowed upon him prophethood and a vast kingdom over which to rule. Allah granted Prophet Solomon may endowments and blessings, among which was that the jinn obeyed him, copper melted at his command, and he understood the chirping of the birds. Allah also endowed a special wind to him that would carry him to wherever he wished, while he rode on a special carpet. It was mentioned that the jinn were under the control of Prophet Solomon, and worked for him. Among what they made for him was a wide, carpet-like wooden platform covered by gold and silk that would fit all what he needed. This carpet was big enough to carry buildings, castles, tents, supplies,...

The Staff of Musa

Allah, the Glorified, supported the honorable prophets with astonishing and magnificent miracles, among which is the wondrous staff of our Master Musa, peace be upon him. Allah, the Exalted, told about Musa, peace be upon him, in Surah Taha, Ayah 18, what means, “He said: ‘This is my staff. I lean on it, I beat the leaves with it to make them fall upon my sheep, and I use it for other purposes.” Among the reports about this marvelous staff is that it turned into a real serpent, between the hands of our Master Musa, peace be upon him. The serpent moved, by Allah’s Will, and swallowed the ropes of Pharaoh’s sorcerers, which people believed were snakes. It was said that our Master Adam, peace be upon him, descended from Paradise with the same staff, and it remained...

The Story of Prophet Salih’s Camel

At the time of Prophet Salih, peace be upon him, there was a female camel who would go to the top of the mountains, with her calf following behind her. The branches of the trees that she passed by would bend close to her, and she would eat the nicest of its leaves. Then she would go to the valley and graze there. At nightfall, she would enter the city, passing by every house, calling out to people in a clear Arabic tongue, saying, “Those of you wanting milk, let them come out.” People would come out from their homes, place containers under her udders and they would fill with milk, by the Will of Allah. When they had taken enough milk, the camel would return to the place where Prophet Salih used to pray and she would say there, saying, “Subhan Allah,” which means...
